Clad in a shining white coat with a stethoscope around the neck - that's how I wanted to see myself in future when I scored 80% in Class 10 examinations.
Everyone was very happy in my family. Becoming a doctor was a childhood dream that I had always cherished because I always wanted to serve the nation. Thus, PCB was a natural choice. Keeping medical entrance in mind, I also enrolled in a coaching institute. I was doing well and topped Class 11 examinations and in my coaching institute too I was scoring good marks.
When I came in Class 12 everyone in my family started giving me extra attention. Whenever I felt even little depressed my parents would boost my morale and would assure that I would definitely crack the CBSE's PMT examination. I did whatever my parents and my teachers told me to score good marks in the examinations. With all the hard work and the efforts that I had put in, I was pretty confident that I would crack the medical entrance.
On day the CBSE results came out, I was very nervous and what I saw on the computer screen was shocking for me and my family. My 61% marks poured cold water on all my dreams. However, instead of losing heart over the results, my parents tackled the situation very nicely and boosted my confidence.

{{/usCountry}}However, when I was just trying to overcome the CBSE trauma, PMT results came out which too were not as per my expectations. But my parents continued to stand by me and helped me remain motivated.
Later, I started applying in various courses of Delhi University. Meanwhile, I cracked the entrance exam of Bachelor of Elementary Education, Delhi University.
From donning a white coat to slipping into a teacher's role, life has been full of surprises though some were pleasant and some were not. However, I learnt one thing that one should never give up in any case and keep striving to make best use of what life has given you.
Now, that I have scored 70% in my first year and I hope to do better next year, I have no regrets of not pursuing medical studies. I am happy about the fact that I can still be a person who can contribute significantly to the growth of the nation.
