STATE SECRETARY of Uttar Pradesh Intermediate Teachers’ Association and MLC Panchanan Rai said here that political parties were engaged in power politics and ignoring the educational sector which was the backbone of the society.

Refraining from making any direct comment on the dole politics of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, Rai said UPITA was a non-political organisation but the State government should ensure free and quality education to all citizens up to Intermediate level.
While talking to mediapersons, Rai said UPITA would stage a dharna in support of teachers’ demands at the district headquarters on September 21. In the second phase, teachers would launch a signature campaign to mount pressure on the government.
Rai demanded that services of teachers in non-aided schools should be regularised.
Responding to a question, he said teachers in self-financed schools were working like bonded labourers and damaging the sanctity of education.
He quoted the instance of Meerut University where Intermediate pass students evaluated answer sheets of postgraduate classes.
He said in self-financed schools, the government had not role in appointment of teachers and stressed that service rule designed by the then Chief Minister Rajnath Singh should be implemented and the details of teachers in self financed school should be submitted to the district inspector of school.
