The Chief Electoral Officer, Tamil Nadu, Mrutunjay Sarangi, on Thursday warned of 'very stern action' against those attempting to disrupt the poll process during the May 10 Lok Sabha elections from the state.
Sarangi, after reviewing security arrangements for the poll with top civil and police officials, said in a statement here tonight that sensitive constituencies would be identified on the basis of past history, political problems and the contesting candidates.
Central paramilitary forces would be utilised effectively, both as striking force and mobile patrols, he said.
Flag marches would be conducted whereever necessary to instil confidence among the public, he said, adding vehicles plying on the polling day would be watched and entry of outsiders thoroughly checked.
Lodges and marriage halls would also be thoroughly checked before the poll to prevent any outsiders staying in the constituencies, he said, adding bogus voters and impersonators would be severely dealt with.
Vehicles carrying voters would be impounded, he said.
