Caller 1: I am preparing for Boards and am very tensed. My friends have finished the syllabus and are now revising but I have not finished all chapters in all subjects. This thought prevents me from concentrating. Please tell me how can I resume my studies with same concentration.

Response: It is very difficult to cope with this kind of tension. Do you know for sure that your friends have finished all chapters and are now revising? They told you this only when you asked them last week. There is no point getting tensed about something that you are not sure of. They could have just lied to you. This is the time when you should think about yourself and concentrate on your studies, if you want to do better than them.

Do not waste your precious time by unnecessarily thinking things, which you are not even sure of.

Caller 2: I am a girl from a village and am appearing for Class 12 boards this year. My parents have told me that they will not allow me to pursue higher studies if I do not secure anything higher than 92-95% marks. I have secured only 89% marks in pre-boards. In small towns and villages, if a girl does not study, parents force them to marry early but I do not want to marry. I want to study and do a job so that I can be financially independent.

Caller 3: My son is supposed to appear for Class 10 boards, but I feel that he is not well prepared. He always keeps talking on the phone with his friends, even at night. Whenever I tell him to study, he starts screaming. Please help.

Response: One can understand that as a mother you want the best for your child. What is important is that you should communicate and discuss your anxieties with your son. It is you who feel that he is not well prepared but he may not think so. A healthy communication will ease you a lot.
