Doordarshan gears up for Modi's US trip

From a special documentary on PM’s pet project to clean River Ganga to capturing public reactions at New York’s iconic Times Square—the government and its agencies are keen to explore different angles of the mega event that has already generated huge interest on the American soil.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on his first US visit, his government’s official media and ministries are leaving no stones unturned to cover it at an unprecedented level.

From a special documentary on PM’s pet project to clean River Ganga to capturing public reactions at New York’s iconic Times Square—the government and its agencies are keen to explore different angles of the mega event that has already generated huge interest on the American soil.

The new PM’s dream project to clean River Ganga will be packaged to the larger audience. The union water resources ministry and Doordarshan have teamed up to make a special documentary on the holy river and the added importance of cleaning it up. The short documentary will be shown and circulated to Americans and NRIs after Modi arrives in the US.

The advance team of Doordarshan has left for New York on Monday as the broadcaster also wants to start an hour-long special programme “PM’s US visit” from Tuesday. They will also capture the public mood and even setting up studio facilities with the help of TV Asia company.

For the Madison Garden event, Doordarshan may go live even till midnight on September 28. the event is expected to start at 8:30 pm(IST). For both New York and Washington events, top experts will be empanelled to give expert's comments on the visit.

In Delhi, the Doordarshan has set up a “US desk” at its headquarters of Mandi House to ensure everything goes smooth and there is no slip.
