For their eleventh anniversary, designer duo Ashima-Leena Singh opened its fashion show at Park Royal Intercontinental with a gold and cream collection of knee-length skirts and stoles wrapped in the same colour. The chiffon and georgette skirts in the Celebration-Vintage Style Fall/Winter Collection 2004 had fluted columns and were teamed with bustiers with leaf embroidery.

Vintage clothes are in these days and so the duo had old exquisite Victorian floral designs along with French antique embroidery embellished by beadwork.
Leena Singh, the creative brain behind the team (Ashima handles the marketing department) got her colours and designs right. The salwar kameezes and saris were in maroon and red. The duo concluded the show with a sequence inspired by Krishna as models showcased blue and green saris and suits.
“Our decade-long journey has been eventful,” says Leena who couldn’t thank sister-in-law Ashima enough for being a good partner. “It’s a happy time for us,” says Ashima. “ “Our most satisfying moment was when we were given the assignment of designing clothes for the Lord Krishna idol at the ISKCON temple,” reminisces the designer duo.
Showcasing the creations were models like Jayshree Tahiliani, Ayesha Prem, Sonal Chauhan and Poonam Nath. Rashmi Virmani choreographed the event. Also spotted at the show: Designers Manju and Bobby Grover, Monisha Bajaj, who is expecting her second baby, consultant Vinod Kaul, formerly of the Fashion Design Council of India, Ambika Shukla, Nalini Singh and Pradeep Hirani, who is about to launch the Kimaya label in the Capital.
