Kushal Aggarwal tried a hand at DU's sports trials this year. But even after ticking an "impressive" 10.8 seconds for 100 metres, he couldn’t get through the college of his choice.

DU's sports authorities hope to push for an increased number of seats for sport candidates. "At individual level we have already talked about the possibility of doubling the current number of sports seats. And now, we hope to seriously discuss the possibility of the same with the senior DU authorities", said JS Naruka, Director, Sports Council DU.

“Colleges fix up the number of seats to be allotted to each sporting discipline. We know nothing about how they arrive at that. Many a times, deserving candidates fail to get through as colleges put a bar in that field,” he informed.

"We hope to bring in a constant criteria to the sports process, so every talented candidate chooses the college of his choice,” he added.
