KGMU V-C signs order
JUNIOR RESIDENT Dr Rajkumar Gupta, accused of arson and vandalism on campus, will be expelled from KGMU. The termination order came on Tuesday, hours after KGUM Vice-Chancellor Mahendra Bhandari recommended it. Action against eight others will be decided, once the report by the committee comprising professors CG Agarwal and MSD Jaiswal comes out.
Dr Rajkumar Gupta had been arrested on Saturday and following this, the KGMU administration has expelled him for three years considering his dubious record. Now if the expelled junior doctor wants to return, then he will have to clear PGME again after three years.
There was a widespread arson and vandalism in protest of the death of fourth year MBBS student Deepak Agarwal recently. In the incident, assistant professor of surgery department Dr KK Singh, junior resident Dr Rajkumar Gupta and eight others were named accused.
New MU norms
THE KGMU administration has decided that all students failing for five consecutive years would automatically stand expelled from the varsity. The move is aimed at improving quality of medical education. The new rules of MU were declared on Tuesday. Their approval from executive council of the varsity is awaited.
KGMU dean SK Agarwal informed mediapersons that three new rules have been formed by the KGMU administartion. First, relates to expelling those students failing to clear their papers in five years. When the students fail for the fourth time, they would be warned by the administration. Those failing for three years would lose hostel facility and their allotment would be cancelled. Prof Agarwal said still more difficult norms might be implemented for improving quality and instilling discipline.
