America's Jason Richardson on Monday won the 110m hurdles world crown when Olympic champion Dayron Robles was sensationally stripped of his title after crossing the line in first place.
Robles won a thrilling race in 13.14sec, edging out Richardson by just 0.02sec but the Cuban's trailing right leg appeared to make contact with China's Liu Xiang's left arm, coming off the final hurdle.
"Robles has been disqualified by the track referee under rule 163.2 for obstruction on the track," an IAAF official said. She later confirmed that Richardson was the winner, stating that an appeal from Cuba to have the disqualification overturned had been rejected. Liu was promoted to silver from bronze with Britain's Andy Turner taking bronze in a time of 13.44sec.
Earlier, Robles had played down the incident, saying: "That's normal in hurdles. I feel great."

"Firstly I would like to congratulate my teammate Yohan Blake... Of course I am extremely disappointed not to have had the chance to defend my title due to the false start... However I have to move on now as there is no point to dwell on the past. I have a few days to refocus and get ready for the 200m (heats) on Friday," Bolt said in a statement.
Jeter powers home
Carmelita Jeter of the US powered home to win the women's 100m title. Jeter clocked 10.90 seconds with Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown second in 10.97. Kelly-Ann Baptiste of Trinidad and Tobago pipped defending champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce by 0.01 seconds for the bronze medal.
Gowda in final
US-based Vikas Gowda has made the cut in the men's discus throw. With a throw of 63.99m he is ranked 8th among the 12 finalists. The final is slated for Tuesday. Mayookha Johny will also participate in the women's triple jump event.
