With the winter season round the corner, buying fabric for coats or suit lengths is natural. Drape is the buzzword if you are thinking of suits today. And why shouldn’t it be. If women can choose to look slim and trim draped in flowy chiffons and georgettes, then why can’t men look good in their well-fitting suits worn over worked out bodies. But just in case, you don’t have a bronzed, toned body a well-tailored suit will do well to conceal that bulging midriff.

Another important factor is price. Though imported fabrics of brands like Cerruti, Canali, Giorgio Armani and Versace are available easily at all leading stores, the steep prices can dissuade the buyer from making the purchase. “The most popular fabrics for the winter are wool and woollen blends,” says Rajat Bhatia of Bentley, Connaught Place, which sells leading brands in imported suits and fabrics.

Similarly, Old Street at the Metropolitan Mall in Gurgaon, also stocks suit length fabric. Brands ranging from Cerruti, Vitale Barberis, Ermenegildo Zegna, Gianfranco Ferre are among the many displayed here. While a good suit length may cost you anywhere from Rs 7,000 – 30,000 depending on the quality, they also stock economical brands such as Reid & Taylor, Raymond, or Uniworth that will not burn a hole in your pocket. Most stores like Mohanlal Sons and Sehgal Brothers in Connaught Place and Old Street charge about Rs 4,000 for stitching a two-piece suit while the charges for a three-piece suit are about Rs 5000.
