THE DEFENCE Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has achieved a breakthrough in detecting low frequency noise under the ocean.
A Sivathanu Pillai, chief controller R&D, ministry of defence and MD of Brahmos Aerospace said on Sunday that DRDO’s Kochi unit had developed the device, which would help in submarine operations.
The miniaturised version could also help in detecting the breath of a person under the ocean.
The device had undergone successful tests after the earthquake in Gujarat.
The typhoid detecting kit, Sanjeevini, was another product that the DRDO had developed for early detection of typhoid.
The Indian Medical Council had also given its approval to the kits and DRDO had applied for patent rights for its commercial production, Pillai said.
The organisation had also developed critical care neutraliser to help mountaineers. The device makes breathing easy at high altitudes, he added.
