The killed criminal was wanted in connection with the murder of a newspaper hawker and several cases of loot. Police have recovered a revolver, a countrymade pistol and a motorcycle from the scene.

According to information from CO Cantonment, Santosh Singh, the cops got a tip-off that two motorcycle-borne miscreants were coming to Suwar Barwa area from the Central Jail side to commit a loot.

Soon afterwards, the cops and members of SOG laid their trap in the area and waited for the miscreants. Following the presence of police on the route, the miscreants attempted to escape, opening fire on the police team. The cops, deployed near a church in Nadesar, returned the fire. As a consequence, pillion rider was shot and slumped on the road, while his accomplice driving the bike, threw it on the road and fled the scene.

Another accomplice of the deceased, Asharfi had been shot dead by the police in an encounter recently.
