Following the directive of the High Court the Nagar Nigam authorities swung into action and have launched a drive against the diesel power generators installed on the road side in the Civil Lines area from Sunday. The NN authorities have so far sealed 39 generators installed at various places on the MG Marg in the Civil Lines following the HC orders to check the noise and air pollution in the area.
On Tuesday the ' operation generators' is set to be launched on the Sardar Patel Marg in Civil Lines.
It may be recalled the District Magistrate Amrit Abhijat, directed the Municipal Commissioner to carry out the drive against the power generators installed on the road side. Sahayak Nagar Adhikari, KD Singh, told HT Allahabad Live that after MG Marg the drive would be carried out in other areas including SP Marg on March 21. He informed that the penalty would be imposed on the generator owners and henceforth the installation of generators would be allowed only after obtaining certificate from the Pollution Control Board.
He said that the NN would submit the action taken report before the High Court on March 22. However the generator owners expressed resentment and said that prior notice should have been given.
