The combing operation was in progress and no arrests had been made till reports last came in. “We have started a five-day combing operation from today and no arrests have been made yet,” SP Chandauli RK Chautervadi told HT, adding, “the combing opertion is on and declined to specifiy the locations.”

Similarly, combing operation in district Sonebhadra is also continuing and additional director general of police (ADG), Law and Order Achariya Palanivel is monitoring the operation.

It may be mentioned that two days ago, Director General of Police Yashpal Singh, revealed in Varanasi that operation flush out had necessiated in view of the intelligence inputs that Naxalite elements have sneaked inside UP possibly due to pressure from Bihar and Jharkhand.

“ADG Palanivel is camping here to ensure massive combing operation in the three Naxal affected districts of Chandauli, Mirzapur and Sonebhadra,” DGP had said here.

The services of 35 companies of PAC, 11 companies of CRPF and UP constables (trained from Andhra Pradesh) have also been pressed into service for the combing operations.
