Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, Singhal said saints were agitated over the “suspicious” move of the Dwarika seer for construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. They would meet in Ayodhya on November 19 and 20 to chalk out the further plan. Swami Swaroopanand was scheduled to visit Ayodhya from November 22 to 30 for the “Parikrama”. Singhal said he had no information of BJP leader LK Advani accompanying Dwarika seer to Ayodhya.

Swaroopanand’s links with Congress were well known and now, efforts were on to devise a Congress plan for temple. But high level committee of VHP saints and central margdarshak mandal had already rejected the move to hold any discussion with Muslims, he added.

Reiterating Sadhus’ resolve to construct temple from sanctum sanctorum, Singhal said no construction of mosque would be allowed within the “cultural limit of Ayodhya”, which was nearly 125 km periphery of the town. He further said the VHP would also not allow construction of “Babri mosque” anywhere in the country. Only Ramjanma Bhoomi trust would construct the temple and any attempt by Sawaroopanand-sponsored Ramalaya trust for the same would be thwarted.

Accusing Swaroopanand of creating rift among VHP saints on temple issue, Singhal said Ayodhya would give him a befitting reply. Politicians would not be allowed to take up the issue, he said. The VHP was not opposed to a negotiated settlement, but past experience indicated that there was now no room for such an exercise, he added.

Swaroopananad had once again only complicated the issue further.

He said even though saints would not stop his “Parikrama”, the atmosphere was not proper for his visit to the temple town. Niritya Gopal Das of the temple trust had already apprised Swaroopanand of the prevailing hostile situation in Ayodhya.

A countrywide awareness drive would be launched in December on the issue, said Singhal.
