A member of the West Indies squad for the 2002 Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand, Bravo's record of 90 runs from seven innings was modest to say the least.

Two years on, his talent has matured and he contributed 481 runs, including a career best score of 197 against West Indies B, and 28 wickets to the Trinidad & Tobago cause during the Carib Beer Cup.

He did not do himself justice in two warm-up games at the start of England's tour, but has now been given his chance as West Indies look for players who can carry them through to the 2007 World Cup, which will take place in the Caribbean.

When asked to name his role model, Bravo replied: "Brian Charles Lara - and no-one else."

His choice was no surprise as he hails from the same town as the West Indies captain.
