Deputy mayor Parminder Kataria expressed concern over the unhygienic condition of roads in some areas of the Millennium City during the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon's (MCG) sanitation committee meeting on Friday.

Kataria, who represents ward No. 6, which includes Ashok Vihar near Gurgaon railway station and Bhimgarh Kheri, said most roads in his area were filthy. The deputy mayor pulled up the contractor, responsible for maintaining cleanliness of roads in his ward.

Kataria said, "There is so much garbage on roads in my ward. The scene is no different at the railway station too. The area stinks and seems it has never been cleaned."

Kataria said if roads in his ward were in such a state, one can well imagine the condition of roads in other localities. While he blamed the local contractor for the mess, he said, “The MCG needs to tighten the noose around its staff and monitor the quality of work being carried out in the city.”
