Asked to comment on the the reports of authorities in Kerala receiving threat mails in the event of the government not granting clemency to Mohammad Afzal, BJP Spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the BJP had precisely forewarned of such events when the government was to repeal POTA, and when the UPA was actively campaigning for the release of Madani, the prime suspect in Coimbatore blasts during Kerala elections.

"The terrorists have got emboldened by the soft and lax attitude of the Centre and the government should not be taken by surprise if the PM or Home Minister get hate or threat mails," he said.

The BJP, which announced a rally in Delhi to demand a speedy disposal of Afzal's clemency petition and hang him till death for his role in the attack on Parliament, has advanced the date for November consequent to the advancing of Winter Session of Parliament to November 22.
