Clichéd but true, a way to a person’s heart is through one’s stomach and Dilli Ke Pakwaan Festival is here to do just that. The week-long fest, which began on February 8, is here to treat Delhiites with delicacies from Old Delhi.

Clichéd but true, a way to a person’s heart is through one’s stomach and Dilli Ke Pakwaan Festival is here to do just that. The week-long fest, which began on February 8, is here to treat Delhiites with delicacies from Old Delhi.



Organised by Delhi Tourism, the third edition of the fest celebrates city’s cultural diversity and has more than 40 stalls this year.



Be it paani puri, butter chicken, papdi chaat or pao bhaji, the fest has a host of options to feast on. "We have organised it in CP, the heart of the Capital, so that it is easier for people to visit. One can relish traditional and street food from gullies and nukkads of the city here,," says Sudhir Sobti of Delhi Tourism.

Enter the fest and you are greeted with stalls selling chaat. A favourite with visitors this year is bhel puri priced between Rs 30-50. "The experience of coming here and eating has been very good. It’s a great place to hang out with friends.



I feel that this fest should take place at least twice a year," says Tanvi Manocha, a student of Khalsa College.



One of the popular sections of the fest is the traditional Old Delhi food such as nihari, kebabs and ulte tawe ki roti, priced between Rs 100-150. "Last year, there were fewer stalls. This time, the visitors have more options to choose from," says Mahir Qureshi, owner of a stall specialising in different types of biryanis.Along with food, one can also enjoy different cultural performances everyday at the venue which replicates the culture of the walled city. The entry to the fest is free.
