In view of the strict attitude adopted by the Election Commission during the ongoing Budhni by-elections, the State Government had sought permission from the office of Chief Electoral Officer about use of state plane by the Chief Minister. CEO forwarded Chief Minister’s request to Election Commission and the latter allowed the Chief Minister to use state plane for participating in the mass marriage programme.

The programme will be held on April 30 at Sijhora village of Mandla district and Chief Minister will perform the ‘Kanyadan’ ritual.

Marriage ceremony of as many as 251 poor daughters, belonging to scheduled tribes, will take place at Sijhora under Deen Dayal Antyodaya Mission, a scheme meant to encourage mass marriages of poor daughters. The Mission has a provision of financial assistance for mass marriages of poor daughters, marriageable destitute women, and widows.
