EC appoints returning officers

The Election Commission has appointed returning officers for the assembly constituencies in the Union Territory.

The Election Commission has appointed returning officers for the assembly constituencies in the Union Territory, district election officer G Theva Needhi Dhas said in Pondicherry on Tuesday.

The officers would take care of three constituencies each.

Dhas said there were 71 free symbols available for the registered parties.

The state-level recognised parties were AIADMK, DMK and PMK while national parties were BJP, BSP, CPI, CPI(M) and Indian National Congress.
