"In consultation with the West Bengal government, EC has been finalising strategies for deployment of forces in the three districts of West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia," Chief Electoral Officer Debasish Sen said, refusing to disclose the security measures in the areas.

Sen said whatever steps taken would be in the interest of free, fair and peaceful assembly election in the three districts, where Maoists are active.

The CEO denied reports in a section of the press that frightened by Maoists, voters in the three districts were not present for photographing for EPIC cards.

"I visited West Midnapore and Bankura districts, but everywhere I found enthusiasm among the voters for EPIC cards," Sen added.

The CEO said he would hold a video conference with returning officers on March 18 to brief them on the procedures and formalities of the nomination filing.
