ED asks Jagat to surrender passport

Jagat Singh's business associate Andleep and Suman have also been asked to hand over their passports.

The Enforcement Directorate, investigating the Indian angle of Iraq's Oil-for-Food scam as brought out by Volcker Committee, is believed to have sent notice to Jagat Singh asking him to hand over his passport.

His business associate Andleep Sehgal, Suman, and three others have also been asked to surrender their passports. The three others are prominent businessman Vijay Dhar, youth Congress leader Jameel Zaidi and one Asad Khan.

While there was no a formal confirmation of the notices having been sent, sources said the Directorate has taken this step on the basis of progress made so far in its probe into the dealings of Indians with the ousted Saddam Hussein regime of Iraq in the oil-for-food programme under UN aegis between 1996 and 2003.
