West Indies were reeling at 40 for three after India scored 347 in their first innings to take a sizeable lead.

Edwards who failed in the first innings showed lot of composure enroute his maiden Test half century as he was undefeated on 62 at tea.

With the ever stodgy Shivnarine Chanderpaul for company, the duo added 76 runs in 30.4 overs. Chanderpaul who was batting on 25 consumed 96 deliveries in the process without having hit a single boundary. His junior partner has had five hits to the fence after playing 123 balls.

The post-lunch session was all about how Edwards stemmed the rot just when the in-form Darren Bravo was dismissed trying to loft Harbhajan Singh failing to clear Praveen Kumar at mid-wicket in the process.

Earlier in the morning, Fidel Edwards (5/103) ran through the lower-order as India were all out for 347 with Mahendra Singh Dhoni scoring 74.

The Indian new ball bowers Ishant Sharma and Praveen Kumar went flat out as they India got 13 overs before the lunch break. While Ishant induced an edge off Kieran Powell (4) to Suresh Raina, Adrian Barath opened the face of his bat to be gobbled up by Virat Kohli in the fourth slip.
