Effigy of those opposing Afzal's death burnt

A group of people, claiming to be part of the Rahul Priyanka Brigade, on Sunday burnt effigy of those opposing the death sentence to Mohammad Afzal Guru, the mastermind of the Parliament attack.

The protest was led by Dhirendera Pratap, a state minister in the Uttaranchal government.

Later a four-man delegation submitted a memorandum to President APJ Abdul Kalam, urging him not to grant mercy to Afzal Guru, a release issued by the brigade said.
