Election dept lists 19 alternatives photo documents for voting

If electorate fails to produce electors' photo identity cards, they can produce alternative photo documents for establishing their identity, state chief electoral officer Narender Chauhan said on Tuesday.

If electorate fails to produce electors' photo identity cards, they can produce alternative photo documents for establishing their identity, state chief electoral officer Narender Chauhan said on Tuesday.

Identity cards issued by the electoral registration officer of another assembly constituency shall be entertained by the election department to establish the identity, Chauhan added.

He said alternative photo documents for establishing identity include passport, driving licence, PAN cards, service identity card with photograph issued to its employees by the state/central government, public sector undertakings, local bodies or public limited companies, passbooks with photograph issued by public sector banks/post office and kisan passbooks (accounts opened on or before April 30, 2013), freedom fighter identity card with photograph, SC/ST/OBC certificates with photograph issued by the competent authority on or before April 30 and certificate of physical handicap having photograph issued by the competent authority on or before April 30.

Besides, arms licence having photograph issued on or before April 30, job cards issued under the NREGA scheme with photograph issued up to April 30, property documents such as pattas, registered deeds with photograph, pension document such as ex-servicemen's pension book/pension payment order, ex-servicemen's widow/dependent certificates, old age pension order, widow pension order with photograph issued on or before April 30, health insurance scheme smart cards with photograph, smart cards issued by RGI under the scheme of Nation Population Register (NPR) and Aadhaar Card issued by UIDAI would also do.
