Eleven more deaths were reported across Bihar on Friday, taking the toll in the current spell of floods to 311, even as the situation remained unchanged with major rivers in spate.
The deaths were reported from Muzaffarpur (6), Bhagalpur (3) and Darbhanga (2), state water resource management department sources said.
According to figures available, Darbhanga accounted for 58 deaths followed by Samastipur (55), East Champaran (51), Muzaffarpur (47) and Khagaria (23).
Besides, 19 people lost their lives in Sitamarhi, 13 each in Bhagalpur and Begusarai, 10 in Saharsa, 8 in Madhubani, five in Katihar, four each in West Champaran and Madhepura and one in Nalanda.
Around 151.05 lakh people were affected by floods in 7565 villages spread over 190 blocks in 20 districts in the state, sources said, adding standing crops in 12.30 lakh hectares worth over Rs 290.94 crore, and 1,74,600 private houses worth over Rs 174.Crore have been destroyed in the floods.
Giving details about the distribution of relief materials, state disaster management department sources said authorities had so far distributed 1,67,716.5 quintal rice, 4.1 quintal grams, 46.65 quintal sattu, 944.84 quintal jaggery, 84,425 match boxes, 1,28,578 candles, 94,188 metre polythene sheets, besides Rs 11.57 crore in cash among the flood-hit victims.
