This venerable Connaught Place institution, the favourite watering hole of politicians and journalists, has a multi-cuisine menu, but its best offerings are the Punjabi favourite, Dal Meat (unparalleled in the city), Murg Musallam (chicken in a homespun version of the béchamel sauce) and deliciously succulent Chicken Pakoras. The décor is nothing to write home about, the tables are placed too close for comfort, and the service is patchy, yet there’s always a crowd outside waiting for tables.
