“We will be providing embryo donation facility from our centre from January 25 onwards,’’ Dr Randhir Singh said on Wednesday. He added the embryo could be preserved for almost 25 years and the technique would cost just about one-third as compared to the currently popular IVF (In-Vitro-Fertilisation) technique.

“While an IVF test-tube baby could cost anything up to Rs 60,000, the embryo donation technique will cost just about Rs 20,000,’’ Dr Singh pointed out. He stated the embryo donation method would be particularly useful for poorer patients as well as for infertile women above the age of 40 years.

The centre has recently purchased the latest ICSI (Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection) machine that would be used for the embryo donation technique besides treating male infertility too, Dr Singh said.
