Eminent satirists gather at cultural meet

UNIVERSITY CLUB of Banaras Hindu University organised a cultural meet of eminent satirists as part of its New Year celebrations here in BHU on Sunday evening.

UNIVERSITY CLUB of Banaras Hindu University organised a cultural meet of eminent satirists as part of its New Year celebrations here in BHU on Sunday evening.

Eminent satirist of Varanasi, Saand Banarsi, commented on the much-hyped Clinton-Lewinski episode and said “Clinton Aur Lewinski ka mamla, Bharat ka koi saand hi janega”.

Commenting on the recent sting operation of a news channel against some MPs, Chakachaundh Gyanpuri said, “Ve sansad hain, ghoos nahin to kya ghas khayenge, election mein karoro kharch huye hain, ve kya aap ke bap layenge.”

Cheers greeted the poems of Salim Shivalvi who recited “Ashiqon ki qatar lag gayi” and “Police kya hai ye samajhana hain to kisi muthbher ko dekho, asal to bach nikalate hain nakli dher hote hain.”

Dinesh Singh and Sri Prakash Mishra also recited their poems. Dr Rajesh Kumar Singh conducted the cultural programme.

BHU executive council member and former head of Journalism and Mass Communication department, Prof Anjan Kumar Bannerjee, unveiled the ‘Fitness Centre’ of the club. Prof Bannerjee appreciated the efforts of the club.
