The recording on Monday of the parents' special episode of the six finalists - Pawani, Diwakar, Shraddha, Sanchita, Abhrokanti and Samir - went on for an unprecedented eight long hours.

The recording had to be halted after every child had sung due to the emotionally charged scenes on the sets.

Exhausted but triumphant, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa producer-director Gajendra Singh recalls the experience: "The parents of the six finalists were supposed to select the song. We all expected it to be an emotionally charged experience. But we never expected the emotions would be so high."

"The recording went on for eight hours - an all-time record on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. We had never in the decade-long history of the show recorded an episode for so long."

Says Singh: "By the end of the show, everyone, from the kids to their parents, to three judges - Alka Yagnik, Bappi Lahiri and Abhijeet - to the crew... everyone was sobbing. The tears just wouldn't stop; so beautiful was the rendering by every child. These kids are phenomenally blessed and the parents' episode proves it."
