There was heavy exchange of fire between unidentified militants and Assam Rifles personnel in interior Ukhrul district of Manipur bordering Myanmar and Mizoram early Tuesday morning, police said.

The incident occurred when the Assam Rifles personnel patrolling Chasad hill area were fired upon by the militants. The jawans returned the fire, but there was no report of casualty on either side.
