FOLLOWING THE rise in level of Indira Nagar nullah, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation started the demolition of a structure housing a clinic from 11 pm on Thursday night.
BMC Commissioner Manish Singh informed that some residents of Indira Nagar, which was one of the worst affected areas on August 13-14, made complaint today evening to the BMC administration that clinic of Dr Arif Qureshi was hampering the flow of the nullah passing from Indira Nagar.
On the complaint, the BMC started the demolition of this clinic through JCB machine. The demolition was continuing till the filing of this report. The clinic is situated near Indira Nagar police post.
Nullah widening helps avert deluge
THE WIDENING of Patra Nullah on the outskirts of the City was put to test by the heavy rains during past 24-hours. Though the water logging could not be averted totally, this has brought some good results for the traditionally water logging prone areas along this nullah. Just after water logging on August 13-14, the BMC administration had started the widening of Patra Nullah at village Kolua, Karariya and Bhanpura. The stretch of nullah passing through these villages is the outlet of this nullah. BMC officials said that widening work on this stretch has provided large outlet to the rainwater.

ROADS IN most localities along Patra nullah including Mahamai Ka Bagh, Dwarka Nagar, Pushpa Nagar were water logged by midnight. Water had also started seeping into some of the houses in these lowlying areas after midnight as rains restarted. On most of the roads in these localities, water rose to at least two feet. BMC officials said water collecting on the roads were draining out soon as the rains subsided.
