Nawab Ansari of Gulzar Nagar laments “ The problem of water logging is rampant in our area there is no proper drainage system and we don’t have proper sewage.”

Housewife Mehrunnisa says, “It’s hard for girls to move out during the night. There is a wine shop near a masjid where a number of anti-social elements assemble for eve-teasing.”

Says Deepu, “We are battling severe water crisis in our area and the whole of Gulzar Nagar and Garhi Ka Naura gets only one hour of water supply in a day.

Besides Gulzar Nagar residents still don’t have a road in the colony. ”

“Encroachments have forced many residents to leave the area. Its hard even to walk in the area in the evening in Mawayyia,” says resident GP Agarwal.

About the encroachments, he said, “This problem cannot be solved at the my level and the authorities would have to pitch in. Top politicians also need to be involved to negotiate with representatives of the squatters.”

Boasting about his work in the ward, he said, “During my tenure, Mawaiyya over-bridge was constructed and 25 km-long pipeline was laid down for safe water supply, all small lanes were made cemented. But yes, I have yet to construct sewer lines in my ward.”
