England captain Michael Vaughan insisted his side could raise themselves for one last effort and crown a fine season by winning Saturday's Champions Trophy final at The Oval.
Vaughan led from the front with a One-Day International best 86, after taking two for 42 with his occasional off-spinners, as England ended a 14-match limited overs losing streak against Australia with a six-wicket defeat of the world champions in Tuesday's semi-final here at Edgbaston.
Victory saw England, who had earlier in the season failed to qualify for their own triangular series final featuring New Zealand and West Indies, complete an impressive transformation in their one-day form.
That followed on from a fine run in Test cricket where England won seven successive Tests - their best winning streak in the five-day game for 75 years.
Now England - who have never won a major one-day international tournament - are in their first significant limited overs final since the 1992 World Cup in Australia where they lost to Pakistan.
