Half-naked body of the deceased had decomposed.

The engineer’s son suspected role of lodge staff alleging that his father was murdered for Rs 1 lakh which was missing from his briefcase.

But, the cops claimed that the man died of some ailment and ruled out any foul play as the room was bolted from inside. The staff of the lodge too denied any involvement in the mysterious death but they could not give convincing reply as why they did not check up about the visitor’s room remained bolted for past three days.

Lodge manager Deepak Sanwal called up Husainganj police after he smelt a stink of rotten flesh emanating from Room No-13. The cops broke into the room and found badly rotten body lying half-naked on the bed. Merely a trouser that too under the knee was found on the body.

The cops called up one of the numbers which was picked up by Pathak’s elder son Upendra employed with a private company in Allahabad. He was informed about the death. Upendra reached here late in the noon.

Manager Sanwal revealed that Pathak had checked-in the lodge around 8.30 pm on August 7. Sanwal claimed that he did not see Pathak after he went to his room. He informed the police after the staff in the lodge felt foul smell emanating from room no-13.

On the other hand, Upendra alleged that Rs one lakh kept in his father’s briefcase and his rings and gold chain were found missing. He further alleged that someone among the lodge staff had committed the murder of his father for money and the jewellery.

Upendra further said that his father was promoted as unit in-charge of a UPNN project at Saifai in Etawah on August 7 and he had come to visit the head office here.

He said that the cops refused to accept his application in which he had suspected role of the lodge staff.

The cops replied Upendra that they would not register a case till the post-mortem examination confirms about the cause of death.
