Adil Anjum Nazzir Ahmed, facing charges of passport forgery, had shaved off his beard after buying a razor from a local shop there, leading to suspicion among villagers, Superintendent of Police (Dausa) Nishar Ahmed said.

The arrest was made around dawn and he was brought to Dausa, where a fresh case was registered, the SP said.

Ahmed, along with another suspected ISI agent Abdul Shakur Rehman also facing similar charges, had escaped from the custody of Gujarat Police early yesterday while being taken from Rajkot to a court in Lucknow. Rehman was arrested from Peepalkhera village yesterday itself.

They had escaped on the pretext of answering the call of nature from Manpur area in Dausa district. They were in handcuffs when they gave a slip to police, the SP said.

Rehman was produced before a court for seeking remand today while Ahmed would be produced later today or tomorrow, the SP said.
