EUNUCHS HAVE decided hold an international convention in Gorakhpur next year. They also decided to adopt abandoned children. Both decisions were made at the national convention of the community at Jungle Matadeen under Shahpur police station here.

The participants passed a resolution in this regard and stressed the need for amendment to the code of conduct for the community in the global age where rapid changes had been witnessed in every walk of society. Barkha and Prema were nominated as coordinators of the organising committee for the international conference. Barkha said eunuchs from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other countries would be invited to participate.
They said the international convention would be held at a prime locality in the district. They condemned the apathetic attitude of the government. They said even today, eunuchs had not been recognised and were cut off from the mainstream.
Prema said awareness had increased about their genuine rights and they wanted to live a better life.
She claimed that all disputes were resolved on the last day of the convention. They would organise a Bhajan and Kirtan programme to pay homage to their Guru Majnu.
