Tips from dog trainers can make your pet an obedient family member, shaking hands with strangers, taking care of its own health and maintaining hygiene in its surroundings.

“We train pets in toilet manners, obedience, behavioural correction and social etiquette like not to fight with other dogs while walking on road,” said Amardeep Joshi, who offers a three to four month training programme for dogs.

He said the main motive of training is to help a pet become a family member. Sessions are scheduled considering the breed and its temperament. Charges vary from Rs 3,000 to Rs 8,000 per month.

Ashu Ruben, who has a team of dog trainers at Kennel - 1, schedules training sessions for each dog on every alternate day.

"The training programme ranges from general obedience to advance level, in which we train them how to guard the house and how to behave with strangers," he said.
