LDA Public Relations Officer (PRO) Ravi Awasthi and management officer Mehdi Raza have been placed under suspension by secretary housing KL Meena over the anomalies in the allotment of EWS houses under the Ashrayheen Yojana.

Incidentally, Ravi Awasthi, was demoted to the post of management officer only a day earlier by the State Government reportedly over his alleged role in the scam.

Hindustan Times had on February 15 highlighted the irregularities that blown the lid off the property racket in which the same EWS houses were allotted to more than one person. An inquiry was later ordered into the allotment of a total of 1149 such houses for the economically weaker section.

According to the report submitted by the probe panel around 400 people were fraudulently allotted property by the LDA ‘babus’ in-charge of the Jankipuram Housing Scheme. Of this while 642 houses were allotted through five separate lottery draws held over a period time, the remaining 507 were allotted directly.
