Former DMK MLA AG Sampath on Friday resigned from the party protesting allotment of an assembly seat to the party ally PMK in coming elections.

In a letter to the party general secretary K Anbazhagan, Sampath alleged he was being neglected in the party of late and attempts were being made to humiliate and ease him out from the party.

"I cannot continue in the party anymore. With great mental agony, I am resigning from DMK," he said.
Sampath, son of former DMK minister A Govindasamy, was piqued over the allotment of the Mugayur seat, which he represented in the past, to the PMK.
His supporters had burnt the party flag and effigies of DMK President M Karunanidhi in Mugayur.
