The notification in this regard is expected on Monday, well-placed sources told The Nation on Sunday night.

Although, the source said, the sitting NWFP Governor Commander Khalilur Rehman has yet not resigned, the change of the governor in the province is already decided.

Orakzai was Chief of General Staff before being posted as Corps Commander Peshawar as his last posting in the Pakistan Army.

Currently, he has been serving the Government of Pakistan as Secretary Defence Production.

Musharraf is reported to have expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance of Rehman over the past 13 months.

Official sources said that Rehman was asked to submit resignation following a high-level meeting held in Islamabad on Friday.

In this meeting the participants held a threadbare discussion on the situation in tribal areas, particularly in Waziristan region.
