The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted the polygraph (lie-detection) test on former Haryana transport minister OP Jain in connection with the alleged murder of Karam Singh, a former sarpanch of Kambopura village in Karnal, at New Delhi on Tuesday.
The polygraph test continued for over three-and-a-half-hours, during which Jain was grilled on his association with Karam Singh, allegations that the former gave him money for job and on the alleged murder.
However, the polygraph test of former chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) Zile Ram Sharma could not be conducted due to paucity of time. "The CBI will issue another date for his polygraph test," said Abhishek Singh Rana, counsel for both the politicians.
Jain's counsel SPS Parmar was present during the polygraph test.
On June 7, 2011, Karam Singh (60) was allegedly assaulted and dumped near a British-era cemetery in Karnal. Later, he died at the civil hospital in Karnal the same day.
It was confirmed that the body had 58 punctured wounds. These were described as superficial marks. Independent MLA Jain and Sharma, who was with Haryana Janhit Congress before switching loyalties to the Congress, are prime accused in the case.
Jain was transport minister at that time while Sharma was chief parliamentary secretary, but both had to resign when the allegations surfaced.

{{/usCountry}}The victim's son, Rajinder Singh, has been alleging that the legislators had taken a bribe of Rs 12.45 lakh on the assurance that they would provide government jobs to his three relatives. When the promise did not materialise, the legislators refused to return the money and allegedly murdered Singh, he claimed.
