Around 45,000 students have been affected due to this cancellation as these students will have to re-appear for the same examination on April 13.

It was negligence on the part of the education department that the mathematics paper had to be cancelled on Monday as this paper had leaked out in Ballia on Saturday (two days before the examination). A Hindi daily had even published the paper on Monday. Taking a serious note of the paper leak, the education department had decided not to distribute the question paper of the same code in any other district across the State.

Even then, the same question paper, code QP 832 (EI), which was leaked in Ballia on Saturday was distributed among around 45,000 students in Varanasi district. Sources said that it was a mistake at the top level of UP High Secondary Board as the codes of exam papers are known to these officials only. DIOS (Varanasi), Onkar Shukla refused to comment on the issue.

As many as two room supervisors were suspended due to their alleged involvement in encouraging copying during the annual examination of Uttar Pradesh Higher Secondary Board in Varanasi division on Monday.
A total of five cheats were nabbed from different examination centres in Varanasi on Monday.

Flying squad of the education department raided Sardar Patel School in Chadpur on Monday and found a student involved in copying.

District Inspector of Schools Onkar Shukla suspended two room supervisors on charges of dereliction in duty.

Earlier, seven room supervisors were suspended in Varanasi division on March 28. As many as four supervisors were suspended in Varanasi district while three supervisors were suspended in Ghazipur district.
