Excise SI suspended

AN EXCISE Sub-Inspector was suspended today in connection with the death of nine tribals who died after consuming spurious liquor in Matli village of Badwani district recently.

AN EXCISE Sub-Inspector was suspended today in connection with the death of nine tribals who died after consuming spurious liquor in Matli village of Badwani district recently.

Meanwhile, the administration has increased the financial assistance given to the affected families from Rs 5,000 to Rs 16,000. Minister in-charge of the district and Tribal Welfare Minister Vijay Shah visited Matli and Nihali villages today.

He also spoke to the affected families on the occasion. Thereafter, he directed the authorities concerned to suspend excise Sub-Inspector R P Khandelwal. Talking to media persons, the minister said a thorough inquiry is being conducted in the case and all those found guilty would be strictly dealt with.
