This is in sharp contrast to the claims of trade unions who claimed that a budget of Rs 34 crore was approved for the golden jubilee celebrations.

At a time when preparations for the celebrations were at its peak, many trade union leaders questioned about expenditure incurred.

Some of them also sought information under the Right to Information Act. However, by putting detailed information about expenditures the management has taken a bold step.

“BHEL has been receiving queries regarding the expenditure on the recent Golden Jubilee Celebration at Bhopal. Since it is not possible to respond to individual queries, the factual data has been put on the site,” the site says.

It also clarify that the expenses of Rs 243.91 lakh incurred by the management were made against the approved budget of Rs 435 lakh.

Similarly, details of all parties organised in connection with golden jubilee celebrations, lights & tents, construction of approach roads, other civil works along with expenses incurred on the main event were mentioned in the website along with expenditure incurred in organisaing some functions like Sufiyana Kalam of Vadali Brother, Shahnai Vadan to name a few.
