The four-member committee headed by MS Valiathan, founder Director of Sri Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, was set up last month in the backdrop of the bitter row between Ramadoss and Venugopal.

The committee discussed the procedure to be followed by it, Health Ministry sources said.

AIIMS had also been nerve centre of the protests against a proposed quota for OBCs in elite educational institutions.

The terms of reference of the committee include making recommendations to turn AIIMS into a centre of excellence and a leader in public healthcare for the entire country.

Valiathan had earlier said that the committee members would meet a number of stakeholders and study a number of documents concerning AIIMS' acts and regulations.
