Curated by Alka Pande and presented by Apparao Galleries and Cinefan along with India Habitat Centre, the exhibition was inaugurated on Thursday evening at IHC's Visual Arts Gallery.

The first impression one got on entering the exhibition is one of escaping the noisy world around. The artists, besides being given the theme, were also given the colour to work with - white.

And the resultant forty odd creations all contribute to the overall atmosphere of serenity. As Pande explained, "solitude has come to have varied connotations in today's world. And sometimes these traumas and anxieties that are transformed into different manifestations - from individual empowerment to coping with multiple identities."

The works, which ranged from paintings, on canvas and on more unusual cloth, to carvings, threadwork, even woodwork - all displayed an unmistakable mixture of quietness and solitude.

Among the artists participating in the exhibition were Shobha Broota, Muzaffar Ali, Maneesha Parekh, S H Raza, A Balasubramanium, Hemi Bawa, Somnath Hore, Vivek Vilasini, Sandeep Paradkar, Chameli Ramachandran and Yogesh Raval.

The exhibition will be on till July 22, from 11 am to 7 p.m.
