In a suo moto order issued here on Wednesday, the CommisAsion said that as a special case it was approving the extension already granted by the Utpadan Nigam without consulting it, but said that it would approve no such extension in future. “Granting extension to the private investors for submitting the bids will delay setting up the much-awaited Anpara power plant,” said the Commission in its order.

Three private companies including Reliance that had showed interest in setting up the 1000 MW Anpara-C power project were supposed to submit their bid documents to the Nigam on May 24. However, the Utpadan Nigam postponed the bid submission for next 15 days reportedly on the request of one of the investors, who pleaded that his bid documents were not ready yet.
