External passing marks rule to go

It may be mentioned that the university had a rule that the students had to acquire minimum 13 marks out of 25 in the external exams, which was causing problems to the students, who also said that the rule was against norms of the Dental Council of India.

The Standing Committee held discussions on the issue at a meeting held today and decided to scrap the rule. The BDS students had also held a demonstration against the rule.

The standing committee also referred the matter of two government colleges – one from Betul and other from Hoshangabad – that had admitted students beyond the capacity for M Sc courses to the Higher Education Department. The committee also discussed the issue of the 20-odd government colleges that have failed to fulfil various norms of the affiliation of the university.

EXAM FORM SUBMISSIONLAST DATE EXTENDED

The BU today announced extension in the dates of submission of exam forms for the annual exams of 2006. The students would be able to submit exam forms till January 20 with special late fees of Rs 750.

This means that the students who want to seek benefit of this extended date would have to pay total late fees of Rs 950 apart from the normal examination fees.
